Coral Expeditions is Australia’s pioneering expedition cruise company, sailing for nearly four decades. We operate and manage a fleet of three small expedition ships taking guests to some of the most beautiful, yet undiscovered, regions of Australia, Asia-Pacific, South-Pacific and Indian Ocean islands. Over 8,000 travellers from all over the world travel with us every year who are attracted by our relaxed small ship atmosphere and itineraries which larger ships cannot replicate.

OUR SMALL SHIP EXPEDITION FLEET

Our small ships and unique itineraries take you to some of the most beautiful and remote regions of Australia, the Asia Pacific, South Pacific and the Indian Ocean. On board you will discover a personalised style of cruising. With our ships carrying only 72 to 120 guests, you can say goodbye to queues, long waits, and assigned seating. Instead, enjoy a relaxed, convivial atmosphere shared with like-minded explorers.

Without crowds to worry about, our chefs can prepare small-batch meals made with Australian ingredients. Where possible, they procure from local food markets. The shallow draft and high manoeuvrability of our purpose-designed expedition ships let us get you closer on coastal adventures to explore the sheltered bays and hidden inlets inaccessible to larger ships.

The 120-passenger Coral Geographer ship will feature the same state-of-the-art specifications and expedition features as Coral Adventurer, however, due to popular demand, she will have an increased number of 6 bridge deck suites with horizon bathtubs.

Coral Adventurer has captured the unique requirements of our guests, our crew, and our incredible destinations. Combining it with the highest quality equipment and technology, this makes her ideal for sailing the Indonesian archipelago, Papua New Guinea, and the Kimberley coast.

Coral Discoverer is highly suited to cruising between Cairns and Darwin on our Cape York and Arnhem Land itineraries, and between Darwin and Broome where she plies the rugged Kimberley coastline each year. During the Australian summer, she can be found cruising Tasmania, Islands of the South Pacific and New Zealand.

CRUISES & DESTINATIONS

Our guests cruise with us because of our unique destinations, diverse shore excursions and expert-led programs. Our shallow-draught ships can go where larger ships cannot. We mostly shy away from long ocean voyages, though occasionally offer the opportunity for ocean crossing passages. Every day typically has at least one stop for water or land-based activities. 

On each voyage we will have a Trip Director or Expedition Leader, and on longer voyages, we have Guest Lecturers who are experts in the geology, history or flora and fauna of the region. Our Trip Directors and Expedition Leaders come with marine or local expertise. Most of our shore excursions are included in the cruise price – only exceptional experiences operated by third-parties such as helicopter joy flights require a payment on board and participation is completely optional.

OUTERKNOWN ADVENTURES ON THE GREAT BARRIER REEF | CAIRNS TO CAIRNS | 7 NIGHTS

Aboard our expedition vessel, embark on an immersive 7-day adventure to the remote and untouched Northern reefs. Explore the hidden corners, uninhabited sand cays, small islands and pristine reef systems. Share the journey with soaring seabirds and swim, dive and snorkel at far-flung Osprey and Ribbon Reefs. Learn about indigenous culture and Australian heritage at Cooktown, hike to the summit of “Cooks Look” Lizard Island, and enjoy a sundowner with the sand beneath your toes.

THE KIMBERLEY CRUISE | DEPARTS DARWIN & BROOME | 10 NIGHTS

As the Kimberley Expedition pioneers, we have perfected our itinerary over 27 years. Our classic 10-day voyage is an immersion into an ancient land. You will explore this rugged land carved by powerful forces of nature, on a thrilling adventure as you enjoy a zodiac ride through Horizontal Falls, shower underneath King Cascade, marvel at 60,000-year-old rock art, and spot crocodiles basking on the shoreline.  Witness magnificent coastal vistas created by towering rock ridges, silent secluded gorges, plunging waterfalls, abundant wildlife, and massive tidal movements.
