Tour Itinerary: Southbound Legacy Luxury Rail Journey

Day 1: Board the Southbound Legacy

This afternoon, transfer to Gia Lam Station and step aboard the Southbound Legacy. Settle into your private cabin before joining fellow guests for a welcome celebration and elegant dinner in the restaurant car as the train departs Hanoi.

Day 2: Ninh Binh

Awake to breakfast onboard before exploring Ninh Binh, home to dramatic limestone peaks, emerald waterways and the UNESCO-listed Trang An Cultural and Natural Heritage Complex. Continue to Vietnam’s ancient capital before returning to the train for afternoon tea and dinner onboard.

Day 3: Quang Binh

Journey into Quang Binh and discover the natural beauty of Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its jungle landscapes, karst mountains and remarkable cave systems. Later, return to the train as you continue towards Hue.

Day 4: Hue

Explore Hue, Vietnam’s former imperial capital. Visit the Imperial Citadel, uncover royal history and enjoy cultural encounters that reveal the city’s enduring traditions. Return to the train and watch the landscapes of central Vietnam pass by.

Day 5: Hoi An, Quang Nam

Arrive in the Hoi An region and experience the artistry, cuisine and heritage of this ancient merchant town. Discover local crafts, enjoy a home-hosted lunch and stroll through the UNESCO-listed Ancient Town before returning to the train for dinner onboard.

Day 6: Phu Yen

Wake to coastal scenery as the train arrives in Phu Yen. Discover traditional crafts, enjoy regional cuisine and spend time soaking up the relaxed beauty of Vietnam’s coastline before continuing your journey south.

Day 7: Phan Thiet

Explore Phan Thiet and its Cham cultural heritage, with time to uncover local traditions and regional flavours. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner onboard as the train continues towards Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 8: Ho Chi Minh City

Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City and disembark after breakfast. Transfer to your hotel or onward meeting point before beginning the next chapter of your journey with Scenic.

Cruise Itinerary: Scenic Meandering along the Mekong & Temple Discovery

Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City > My Tho > Scenic Spirit

Begin your Scenic journey in Ho Chi Minh City before transferring to My Tho, where Scenic Spirit awaits. Step aboard your luxurious river ship, enjoy a welcome reception and dinner, then sail towards Cai Be.

Day 2: Cai Be

Discover life in the Mekong Delta with your choice of Scenic Freechoice experiences. Travel by sampan to Tan Phong Island, explore fruit orchards and local cottage industries, enjoy afternoon tea at a French colonial house, or join an onboard cocktail and mocktail-making class.

Day 3: Sa Dec

Explore Sa Dec by sampan, visiting its lively wet market and the historic home of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, linked to Marguerite Duras’ novel L’Amant. Later, return to Scenic Spirit for time to relax onboard.

Day 4: Tan Chau

Choose from a range of Scenic Freechoice experiences around Tan Chau. Visit Tra Su Bird Sanctuary, discover Evergreen Island and ride a traditional xe loi, or travel by speedboat to Chau Doc and Tay An Temple.

Day 5: Border Crossing > Phnom Penh

Sail from Vietnam into Cambodia, enjoying time at leisure onboard as Scenic Spirit makes her way to Phnom Penh. This afternoon, visit the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda before enjoying a Scenic Sunset Drinks experience with a Phnom Penh by City Lights tour.

Day 6: Phnom Penh

Explore Cambodia’s capital through your choice of Scenic Freechoice activities. Visit the Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, join a hands-on Cambodian cooking class, or travel by remork through Phnom Penh’s French architecture, backstreets and Central Market.

Day 7: Phnom Penh > Oudong > Silk Island

Travel to Oudong, Cambodia’s former royal capital, and experience the peaceful life of monks and nuns at a local monastery. Later, sail to Oknha Tey, also known as Silk Island, and learn about traditional silk production before a Sundowner cocktail reception onboard.

Day 8: Angkor Ban

Sail towards Angkor Ban, a riverside village where time appears to stand still. Explore historic wooden houses dating back more than a century and gain insight into traditional Cambodian village life.

Day 9: Wat Hanchey > Kampong Cham

Visit Wat Hanchey, an ancient hilltop pagoda and monastery, and receive a traditional monk blessing as part of a Scenic Enrich experience. Later, choose from Scenic Freechoice activities around Kampong Cham, from local folklore and temples to rubber plantations or rural village life on Kho Penh Island.

Day 10: Mekong Cruise > Siem Reap

Disembark Scenic Spirit and travel towards Siem Reap via Kampong Tom and the Angkorian bridge at Kampong Kdei. Settle into your luxury hotel before enjoying VIP premium reserved seating at the colourful Phare Circus.

Day 11: Siem Reap

Choose from Scenic Freechoice experiences such as Banteay Srei Temple, artisan workshops, village walks, Tonle Sap floating villages, Angkor Wildlife Aquarium or a tethered balloon flight over the temple complex. This afternoon, visit magnificent Angkor Wat.

Day 12: Siem Reap

Rise early for a memorable Angkor Wat sunrise experience, followed by a champagne breakfast near the temples. Continue to jungle-covered Ta Prohm and the many-faced Bayon at Angkor Thom. This evening, enjoy a private gala dinner within the grounds of Prasat Kravan temple.

Day 13: Depart Siem Reap
