Itinerary Highlights

Day 1 Porto

Welcome to Porto, Portugal’s second city. Built on the hills overlooking the mouth of the Douro River, this bustling city is the capital of the Northern region. The city was named by the Romans for its port, which was an integral link to Lisbon. It’s World Heritage-listed for its 2,000-year history and many well-preserved buildings and monuments.

Your friendly crew are ready to welcome you on board your luxurious Scenic Space-Ship. Settle into your luxurious suite and prepare for this evening, when you can enjoy a performance of traditional Fado music to toast the journey ahead.

Day 2 Porto > Pinhão

Relax as your Scenic Space-Ship cruises through the spectacular Douro Valley towards Pinhão, passing steep riverbanks lined with terraced vineyards and historic quintas along the Douro River. This afternoon, arrive in Pinhão, one of the most picturesque villages in the region, renowned for its Port wine heritage and charming riverside train station adorned with traditional azulejos depicting the annual grape harvest, with an opportunity to join a hands-on tile-painting workshop.

Day 3 Pinhão > Barca D’Alva

This morning, you have the special opportunity to visit the charming village of Provesende, located on a plateau with spectacular views of the region’s fertile rolling landscape. Wander through the village and visit the church, discover the old bakery, witness traditional handicraft being made, and look inside the historic manor house, Morgadio da Calçada, where you’ll enjoy a tasting of delicious bola.

Day 4 Barca d’Alva > Pocinho

Choose how you explore today with Scenic Freechoice. Travel across the Spanish border for a full-day visit to the historic university city of Salamanca, renowned for its golden sandstone architecture, grand cathedrals and lively atmosphere. Alternatively, visit the charming riverside village of Freixo de Espada à Cinta, known for its medieval heritage and handcrafted silk traditions, with a visit to a local Quinta for regional tastings before returning to the ship.

Day 5 Pocinho > Régua 

Begin the day in Pocinho with a choice of Scenic Freechoice excursions. Discover the UNESCO-listed Côa Valley, home to the world’s largest open-air Paleolithic rock art site, or experience village life in the Côa Valley with a visit to Freixo Numão, including a traditional almond demonstration and tasting. This afternoon, relax onboard as you cruise towards Régua, surrounded by terraced vineyards in the heart of Portugal’s famous Port wine region.

Day 6 Régua > Porto

Wake in Régua and enjoy a relaxed start before exploring the Douro Valley with Scenic Freechoice. Options include visiting the historic town of Lamego, kayaking along the scenic Pinhão River, or touring the elegant Mateus Palace. This afternoon, cruise back to Porto in preparation for a memorable Scenic Enrich experience — an exclusive classical concert in the magnificent São Francisco Church.

Day 7 Porto

Spend your final day exploring Porto with Scenic Freechoice. Choose a guided tour of the city featuring the iconic Palácio da Bolsa, with time to explore the historic Bolhão Markets. Alternatively, travel to Guimarães, birthplace of Portugal’s first king, and visit the impressive Ducal Palace of Guimarães, or enjoy a tour and tasting at Quinta da Aveleda, renowned for its beautifully landscaped gardens.

Day 8 Porto
