Sydney
Australia's most illustrious city is the country's capital in everything but name. It possesses one of the most beautiful harbour settings in the world, and emanates with a intermingling of history, ruggedness and sophistication.

Norfolk Island
At first glance, it's hard to believe that vibrant Norfolk Island could have a dark past. Yet during the 19th century, the now-peaceful Australian retreat was a convict colony, home to criminals who'd been banished into exile. Today, the archaeological remains of the penal colony have UNESCO World Heritage status and are revered for their historical significance. You can visit the settlement's remains, an eerie yet beautiful collection that includes a jail, a cemetery, lumbar yard and salt house.

Auckland
Auckland is a lively fusion of international style, local creativity and Polynesian charm. Its urban personality is bold, fast and fashionable, while its seaside ambiance ranges from rugged and untamed to smooth and tranquil.

Tauranga
The principal city of the Bay of Plenty is a popular Kiwi summer resort with notorious military and missionary legacies. Its legendary Waitomo Caves comprises a vast underground network of water-sculpted, cathedral-like limestone grottoes. Big-game fishing and scuba diving abounds.

Suva
The capital of Fiji, Suva, is the largest metropolitan city in the island country. With a tropical rainforest climate, expect rains almost every day. Here, you can visit its several parks, the Fiji Museum in Thurston Gardens, the Suva City Library or the Carnegie Library, and the University of the South Pacific.

Dravuni Island
The volcanic island of Dravuni beckons you to explore, along the several islands that sit within the Great Astrolabe Reef. Dravuni is where you can find the University of the South Pacific's research facility on coral cay conservation, and you can also see these corals for yourself from the crystal-clear waters.

Apia
At the central north coast of Upolu is Apia, the capital city of Samoa. Here, you'll find a great collection of restaurants, clubs, shops, and a few markets for souvenirs. There are also some scenic views from the coast, as well as a wealth of cultural attractions to keep you busy.

Papeete
Welcome to the largest city on the island of Tahiti, and the capital French Polynesia. Here you'll find a busy government centre and industrial port with a lot of charm. It's also a great starting point to explore Tahiti's several lagoons, black and white sand beaches, and volcanoes as well.

Moorea
Moorea's craggy volcanic peaks, reflected in the tranquil waters of Cook's and Oponohu bays, protrude from the island's basaltic base. Lush mountain slopes are covered with rainforest or pineapple plantations, and white sand beaches border crystalline lagoons.

Raiatea
The second largest island of French Polynesia has splendid lush green valleys, cascading waterfalls and vibrant pineapple and vanilla plantations. Surrounded by a large protected lagoon, the area has naturally become a top location for sailing, deep-sea fishing and scuba diving.

Honolulu
Urban sophistication and an unhurried lifestyle are the two most notable characteristics of this chic Hawaiian paradise. Honolulu is a modern city combining eastern and western influences, and its dazzling beaches and crimson sunsets make for an unforgettable vacation.

Kauai
Considered as the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands, Kauai is a popular tropical paradise destination that has been featured in several Hollywood films for its beauty. Here, you can also discover the Na Pali coastline, offering a cacophony of colours and landscapes that will surely mesmerise.

Kona
Located on Hawaii Islands beautiful western shore, Kailua Kona is known for its calm, clear waters that offer the perfect playground for ocean adventure. Take the 25-minute drive north to Maniniowali Beach to swim or snorkel in the ultra-blue waves alongside dolphins and sea turtles. Often referred to simply as Kona, the area is also a place of deep historical significance. Cruise to Kailua Kona and check out Kaloko-Honokahau National Historical Park, a Hawaiian Heritage Site where youll encounter early temples, ancient petroglyphs and traditional fishponds. See where your morning cup comes from at one of the coffee plantations on the slopes of Hualalai volcano, if youre daring, you can even hike to the summit.

Los Angeles
Discover Los Angeles multicultural history by walking through its diverse selection of neighborhoods: See the ornate Twin Towers Dragon Gateway in Chinatown and the traditional Mexican shopping stalls and vendors of Olvera Street. Then, chill by the beach at Santa Monica Pier, or take the iconic drive down Sunset Boulevard, one of the most often-filmed thoroughfares in the country.

San Diego
San Diego's magnificent coastline, ideal climate and Mediterranean facade make it the quintessential Southern California beach city. The best spot to experience the So-Cal beach scene is the 3-mile stretch from the southern tip of Mission Beach to the northern end of Pacific Beach.

San Francisco
The darling of the West Coast is an offbeat, relatively small metropolis with an infinite number of personalities. Part chic, part Victorian, part hippie and part alternative, it is one of the U.S.'s most beloved cities. Its culturally strong neighbourhoods attest to its rich diversity and open-minded attitudes.

Victoria BC
The capital of British Columbia is an intimate, sophisticated seaside city that is situated on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Located in one of Canada's mildest climates, it is the sunniest spot in the province. This one-time colonial outpost alive with cosmopolitan dining, superb shopping and a colourful nightlife.

Vancouver
Dramatic mountains and soaring skyscrapers kiss the sea in this booming British Columbian metropolis. Known as the "Hollywood of the North," Vancouver is stunningly beautiful and richly diverse - highlighted by dense forests, verdant parks, intimate coffeehouses and seaside markets.

Ketchikan
Located in the Tongass National Forest and close to Misty Fjords National Monument, Ketchikan is the "Salmon Capital of the World" and Alaska's 1st City. The town's colourful past is evident in the Indian villages and totem poles that grace its land.

Juneau
Alaska's capital city features luring scenery that often seems surreal. Tracy Arm Fjord, Mendenhall Glacier, the Juneau Icefield and Glacier Bay National Park offer unparalleled glacier viewing, and The Tongass Rainforest climate boasts lush terrain and captivating wildlife.

Skagway
The Spirit of the Klondike Gold Rush echoes throughout this historic town. Turn of the century shops and saloons are intermingled with false-fronted buildings and boardwalks, and the deep waters of Taiya Inlet and the rugged Coast Mountains enchantingly frame the entire town.

Cruising Hubbard Glacier
This massive glacier sprawls over 1,300 square miles, and it is the longest river of ice in North America. Intimate inlets, mysterious ice caves and blue ice slabs are some of the incredible natural wonders of this gargantuan formation. Also known as the "Galloping Glacier", it once advanced 47 feet in a single day.

Whittier
Whittier is nestled at the base of mountains that line Passage Canal, a deepwater fjord of western Prince William Sound with tidewater glaciers that calve before your eyes. The surrounding peaks are snowcapped much of the year and a glacier hangs above the town to the west. Just across from Whittier is the Kittiwake Rookery, the largest of its kind in the world. Fishing is a favorite pastime with salmon and halibut derbies every summer. Whittier is a gateway to wildlife, glacier-viewing, sea kayaking and fishing charters.

Kushiro
Kushiro is the largest city in Eastern Hokkaido. It is known as a base for deep-sea fishing and also well known as "the town of mist." Kushiro plays a leading role in the politics, economics and culture of eastern Hokkaido.

Hakodate
Hakodate overflows with historic architecture and steamy hot springs. Located along Hokkaidos southwestern tip, its the perfect spot to begin exploring this islands unique history and culture during your vacation. Cruise to Hakodate and start your day at the morning Hakodate-Asaichi, or Morning Market, and tuck into a hearty kaisendon, a bowl of ultra-fresh sashimi fish over steamed rice. Then, relax with a soak in the Yunokawa hot springs on Hakodates outskirts, or check out Goryokaku Fort ? the nearby tower lets you take in a birds-eye view of the star-shaped design surrounded by a moat. And dont leave without taking in the million-dollar views of the city from atop Mt. Hakodate.

Tokyo
Tradition collides with pop culture in Tokyo, where you can reverently wander ancient temples before rocking out at a karaoke bar. Wake up before the sun to catch the lively fish auction at the Toyosu Market, then refresh with a walk beneath the cherry blossom trees that line the Sumida River. Spend some time in the beautiful East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, then brush up on your Japanese history at the Edo-Tokyo Museum. Don't forget to eat as much sushi, udon noodles, and wagashi (Japanese sweets) as your belly can handle.
