Taste of Norfolk

Norfolk is famed for its organic, local produce. One of the best parts of travel is experiencing local flavours and delicacies, and Norfolk will not disappoint. Travel around the island to meet locals and learn about their ‘paddock to plate’ approach. Enjoy a cooking demonstration of how to make green banana fritters, drizzled with local honey of course!

Christmas Cuisine Masterclass with Julien Vasseur

Chef Julien Vasseur, an organic cookery advocate has relocated to the Island to establish a new school that specialises in paddock to plate cooking. We are thrilled to be amongst the first visitors and participate in a hands-on Masterclass with the Chef himself! Learn tips and tricks on preparing the perfect Christmas feast, the best bit, relish in your creations!


Itinerary:

Day 1 Arrive Norfolk Island

Welcome to Norfolk Island. You will be greeted by a Wendy Wu Tours driver and taken to your hotel. Start your evening with a welcome dinner at Hilli restaurant.

Day 2 Discover Norfolk Island

In the morning visit one of Norfolk’s most popular attractions – Fletcher’s Mutiny Cyclorama. A unique 360-degree painting that brings to life the history of the Island and its locals. The remarkable 360-degree view will impress with its realistic artistry. Later this afternoon take an orientation drive through the most important landmarks, with some photo opportunities for our budding photographers. Dinner tonight is at the Homestead Restaurant, famed for its 'cooking over embers’ that locks in flavours.

Day 3 Reef Cruise & Festive High Tea

Today start the day with a cruise within the lagoon of Emily and Slaughter Bays. Here you will witness the beautiful coral gardens as you cruise the crystal-clear pristine waters of the lagoon on a glass-bottom boat. Afterwards, enjoy an exclusive event; a private High Tea with a festive touch on the lawns of magnificent Forrester Court, overlooking the stunning views of Cascade Bay where you will lavish in all the scrumptious sweet treats Christmas has to offer. In the evening enjoy a traditional island BBQ at a scenic location. Followed by the first re telling of the island's history, when Bounty Mutineer Descendants first landed on Norfolk on a leisurely coach ride around the Historic area of Kingston.

Day 4 Christmas in July celebrations

Start the day with some leisure time for shopping. Then join us in your finest for an ultimate Christmas luncheon, complete with all the trimmings. You will enjoy an open-air, ambience filled celebration in the Kingston Area, with the focus being on the wide selection of delicacies before you. We know you will enjoy every moment. Later this evening in true Charles Dicken’s spirit we will venture on a lantern lit ghost tour to visit the ghosts of Christmas past. Oh my! Dressed in period clothing with only a lantern to light our path we will venture through the cemetery, stopping at murderers’ mound and enter the Duplex (Australia’s most haunted building) on our way to Kingston pier where we will stop to enjoy some delicious, mulled wine.

Day 5 Characters of Norfolk Island

This morning visit famed author Colleen McCullough's beloved property “Out Yenna.” After the success of her cult Aussie novel and subsequent movie ‘The Thorn Birds’ Colleen sought refuge in the tranquillity of her island home. On this exclusive access experience, you will tour the property, and appreciate why this spot inspired creativity for so many of her popular books. Later take part in a museum exploration within the Kingston Heritage Area. Wander through renovated buildings that date back to the early 1800’s, learning more about the island’s unique settlement history. View archaeological artifacts discovered on the Heritage Kingston and Arthurs Vale historic area (KAVHA) site and uncover their links to the Polynesian 1st settlers and the convict settlers that followed in the late 1700s. Finish the day on a progressive dinner that allows you to share a meal with the locals. Visit some local homes and enjoy true home cooked food packed with the goodness of the fresh produce Norfolk has to offer. A unique way to learn about the true island lifestyle.

Day 6 Gardens and Christmas Cuisine Masterclass

A personalised garden exploration that will enthral any garden enthusiast. Frist, step behind the scenes of a busy flower market and then venture out to a secluded old Island home and marvel at the beauty and colour of its surrounding gardens, still irrigated by a hand dug well from the convict era. For lunch roll up your sleeves and enjoy an exclusive Christmas cuisine masterclass with Chef Julien Vasseur, an organic cookery advocate who has recently relocated to the Island to establish a new cooking school specialising in paddock to plate cooking. Be one of the first to participate in this interactive and immersive experience. Finish the day with a fun, interactive dinner theatre, where the performers take you on a journey back in time and share the generational stories of times past. The Commandants dinner of traditional English fare and show will leave you in stiches, from food and laughter!

Day 7 Breakfast Bushwalk & Island Fish Fry

This morning take part in a relaxed, scenic bushwalk through the National Park. Take in the beauty of the dramatic seascapes, the lush Norfolk Pines towering above and the unique flora and fauna that call the island home. Walk along the Bridle Track to Captain Cook’s Memorial and keep your cameras handy! Breakfast will be served alfresco, BBQ style. In the afternoon embark on a foodie adventure as you meet passionate local farmers and sample their organic produce from delicious fresh honey to fruits and veggies. Tonight dine on a traditional Island Fish Fry, a welcoming Polynesian feast filled with dancing and atmosphere.

Day 8 Depart Norfolk Island

Later this afternoon transfer to the airport.
